Great Trails Council
BSA Climbing Instructors Course
Have you ever wanted to know more about rock climbing? Have you ever wanted to have the knowledge and experience to teach this sport to young people? Do you have a desire to work in a sport that teaches responsibility, maturity, attention to detail, promotes physical fitness and a love of the outdoors? Then we have a program for you!

Great Trails is again offering the opportunity for registered scouts and scouters 16 years of age or older, to participate in a training program covering not only the techniques and equipment involved in climbing but the BSA National Standards for safe operation of a climbing program within the Boy Scouts. This program covers one evening of basic requirements and equipment, one full day outdoors learning the practical skills of climbing and a second full day practicing and reviewing the skills to actually run your own climbing event (if trained as an Instructor) or assist in a council event. This course takes place beginning on a Friday evening and continues throughout the entire weekend with the outdoor portion held on rock cliffs.

Contact the Great Trails Council office if you are interested in this course to sign up. The fee for this course is $25 and covers all instruction, handouts and use of all required climbing equipment.
