Wood Badge was originally presented by Baden-Powell to strengthen and
preserve the Scout movement in each country through out the world.
Today in this country, Wood Badge for the 21st Century
provides all Scout leaders an opportunity to develop leadership and
management skills which will have a profound influence on youth in Scouting.
The course has been developed for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and
Venturing leaders as well a council and district leaders. Its focus is on
leadership, not out-of-door skills.
Wood Badge for the 21st Century is part of the BSA training
continuum and should be taken by all new leaders within two years of joining
the program.
Prerequisites – Participants must have
completed the basic leader training steps of New Leader Essentials
and the Leader Specific training for their current position.
